Mostly because "C" would have simply differentiated between Cinch being right or wrong.
Ras, don't take Joncha too seriously. Your guess wasn't as bad as most, honestly as many others you've done yourself among others. Play the game however you want ... Joncha is an extremely competitive person, and therefore takes this much more seriously than you would.

Well as a cross wordd enthusist i would disagree. most cross words are not built of 5 letter words with only one vowel. maybe there are some crosswords like that , but none that i have seen,
you seem to be implying that a scrabble enthusist would have a larger vocabulary than myself, again i diasagree as most of the words scrabble people learn are 2 letter words to fit in with others , words such as qa... Yes a lovely 2 letter word with no U
I have the complete scrabble book at home listing all approved 2 letter words. it doesnt list all the longer words as they dont help win the game, it is the joining words and cross words you need to win scrabble.
and the DEFINITION of vocabulary is not simply words that you have read or seen in a crossword.
here it is here
vo·cab·u·lar·y Pronunciation Key (v-kby-lr)
n. pl. vo·cab·u·lar·ies
The sum of words used by, understood by, or at the command of a particular person or group
So how many times have you referred to a cow as a milch cow bacuase it can give milk..
Normal Vocabular usage is now to refer to it as a Milk COW
but please dont let me step on your toes here , you are obviously far more cleverer than i am or could ever hope to be.
because you know so many obscure 5 letter words with only one vowel......

i guess this is why i have such long abscences from poly. Too many people think the world is made up of who is better than some one else...

Obviously you are right. If a word is not known to you personally it doesn't exist and isn't worth including. From now on I will also refrain from pointing out when you make stupidly selfish guesses, because your 1-in-100 shot at getting a word is more valid than everyone else's cooperative effort in solving it together. I apologise for oppressing you.

Perhaps if this game is truly a 'cooperative' game, as you imply, we should only give points for word setters, and not for guessers. That would encourage cooperation and not random guessing.
Until you do, people will guess when it gives them the highest possible chance of getting the points, and no later. The benefit of guessing a 1/8 chance, when you won't get another opportunity, far outweighs the detriment of increasing even by 50% the chance the setter will win ... with the sole exception of you and Spike, who are in direct competition, and a point for spike is a negative point for you and vice-versa. For the rest of us, a point for the setter is a small fraction of a negative point for us ...
