While the devs may claim this, how do they really know that is what is going on?
Actually, the RTW engine was built to track units at the individual level from the ground up, but they backed off the idea for RTW because of time constraints. Given the extra development time they've now had, I see no reason to doubt that they finished implementing this. How well it actually will work in the game remains to be seen...

Cool - thanks for the heads-up! I've been ignoring everything whilst playing NWN lately (including my wife, kids and job) so I haven't been haunting the Total War fansites like I used to. Guess I'll be downloading this when I get home...

          Found on another forum:

The readme says that the the processor must support SSE2, and Athlon XP doesn't support it.
Guess I won't be downloading it then.

A guy on their forums said they looked into the problem and that they thought they'd find a solution.

There was nothing drastically new compared to RTW, but the graphics are great, and I can't wait for Medieval 2: Total Realism.

So, Kass, what do you get with the demo? The RTW demo had the tutorial battle and one historic battle, but none of the campaign stuff. I can't download it until tonight.

There's a tutorial battle I didn't play, and two historical battles, Pavia (on HRE side) and Agincourt (English side). There's also a trailer that shows you a bit of what the campaign is like.

The game looks like mtw loosly plastered over rtw

MTW had great atmosphere, how does MTW2 compare to that?

Seeing as there will always be people disgruntled with how "unrealistic" the game was, I think this is inevitable. What you should be wanting to know is if the people who actually execute M2TR are going to do it in the same elegant and entertaining fashion - and as for that, who knows!

The RTR team has changed a lot over the past couple years, but there are definitely good modders from the RTW community that will be modding M2TW.
