  • Mac Games Recommendations

Ok I'm at my parents' for about a week and half and they only have Macs. So I'm looking for some free Mac games I could play to help kill the time. Any suggestions?

I remember few years ago my dad got tons of free shareware games via some Mac magazine. I'm sure some are available on the 'Net but most are junk so I'm hoping someone could make a recommendation.

I recommend you get them to buy a better gaming machine.

you could try here if they have older macs:
http://www.erasmatazz.com/ its an old school game designers site and he has a link to free copies of his Mac games. There are 4 in total and all small downloads.

If its newer then there is a demo of a TBS fantasy type game you could try here:
http://www.a-sharp.com/kodp/ (its the 71MB 'one game year' download thing).

Thats about the limit of my Mac gaming knowledge

My favorite Mac game of all time is called "Sim Cinema Deluxe"...

Anyhow, there is a mac version of that canine site, that has lots of shareware games on it (including the above) ... just replace the www. with mac.

              Or Diablo.

And I know neither are free.

Oh, and there are a few non-platform dependent games that are worth running on the mac... like UMoria or Angband, for example (roguelike)

Shadow Keep was a load of fun for me as a kid and even in college a bit. I don't recall if it's 'shareware' or not, though I think it was when I played it... It's one of the classic Mac RPGs.

There's always Astreroids ... The best version I ever saw was written for the Mac. Wiki has links to flash versions...

"Same Game" is a great puzzle game, it was originally mac iirc but made it to the PC. VERY addictive.

Zork ... great series of text based games

Finally, make sure they have "After Dark", the best screensaver slash ... other things ... ever made. Not pornographic, I promise (well, there may be porn mods available for it, who knows, but it is not intended as such)... just a lot of fun to play around with. It's a game for your monitor to play when you're not around, and watching it is honestly more interesting than most TV...

It's actually quite weak, but I suppose if you don't have anything else to play.......

lol, DrSpike. Also it's only for a week and half. I don't want anything intensive.

Earlier today I came across this game called SuperTux which is clearly a rip off of Super Mario Bros. Instead, you got this penguin that get bigger if he eats a snowball and there's a fire flower too for shooting fireballs. Koopa Troopers - Walking Ice Cube. They even got walking bombs. Its not too bad but way too simplistic.

Verto, will check out the link in the morning thanks!

As long as it's a good rip off you can't go wrong if all you want is a bit of quick fun.
