Age of Empires III

Anyone here have this game? I'm thinking of getting it but have a couple of questions.

1. Is it like the previous versions or is this game a significant improvement?

2. Did it have "issues" with graphic cards/sound cards like Civ4 has?

3. If you're a fan of the previous games in the series is this one really worth getting?

If you like great graphics, then yes, it's a huge improvement. It didn't feel like the earlier AoE games though... I must admit I haven't played AoE1/2 in many years

I didn't notice any problems at all, so for me it was the same as Civ4 (haven't had any problems here either)

If you're a fan of games with actual gameplay, then it's not worth getting
The only positive I can say about this game is:
1) Nice graphics
2) I like the discovery of America theme
3) Ehmmm... not sure if there is a 3rd positive thing to say about this game

Have you played the demo? I have, and even though I liked AoE 1 & 2 quite a lot I was very under impressed with this one. I don't know, there seems to be a lot to do, but not much of a reason to do it. To me it just felt dull. But then, my opinion may be swayed somewhat by RoN, which I believe is a much better gmae.

I strongly suggest though, if you haven't played the demo, do that before you make a decision about buying the game.

It's much better than Empire Earth II, but no where near as good as Rise of Nations or the RoN expansion.

That was mean to EE2... Though I haven't tried it, so I can't tell if it really is worse than AoE3, but I can't imagine how it can be

Not worth 50 bucks.. Its just like old AOE games with newer theme and graphics.

The more i play this game the more I like it, but it really isnt up to expectations at all.

i'm playing Rise of Nations right now (the expansion is on my HD but I haven't tried that out yet). to be honest RoN is too much researching... you can't really use tactics with yer troops.. In RoN I'm just clicking constantly for new upgrades and so on, the AoE series is more balanced in that

Traianvs: You should try to mod the game so it takes longer, that makes the game much more interesting

And install the XP, it adds more to the game

I finally installed this game and love it

I held off because I was so immersed in CIVIV but this is actually a pretty decent game

Is anyone else playing?
