Proposed new game ratings

New game ratings

In addition to the current ESRB ratings system(E, T, M, AO), the following would be useful

GSWN - Grand strategy with nukes. Game has no graphic violence, but its subject matter of war, and in particular use of nuclear weapons, makes it suitable for trotting out whenever someone attacks violence in games.


FSI - Frankly sexist imagery - game is not explicit about sex, but includes imagery guaranteed to piss off feminists, repell women from gaming. Should be played only by teenage boys.

HD - Horrible demons - includes imagery guaranteed to give nightmares, but hey, at least youre not killing humans, right?

HDPP - Horrible demons, pretentious plot. Nightmarish imagery, combined with plot elements clearly derived from college philosophy class. Best example shall go NAMELESS, but is called the best of its genre.

(I can't tell if you are being serious or not)

but I'm under the assumption you are serious okay

I'm sure that the parents that do seriously look at ratings would find this stuff useful... but such parents probably already do research the games and know the content, so this stuff would not be beneficial to them.

Other parents would just find this confusing and probably not even bother to look at the ratings.

So I doubt this would be helpful at all.

You should probably seek to simplify ratings, not make them more confusing.

and I think the "teenage boys" rating is covered by the ESRB 10+ rating...

so some of your stuff is redundant...

maybe you can quit your day job and work for the ESRB

Clearly, no. Games like SMAC or Civ have gameplay. Games like Black and White do not. See the difference?

Yes, but I'm saying that 90% of all new games have no gameplay, so there should be a note on the gamebox that say IF the game actually has gameplay
