Who's getting it? Any chance of an Apolyton Villain organization? The beta has been fun so far.

I'll get it, but with Quake 4 and Civ 4 (soon) being played it's going to take a while.

It's almost over, and I'm not sure if it's open beta.

It's not an open beta as far as I know. However the NDA has been lifted so I can answer questions.

            I might get this later..

(my problem with CoH was that it had too much grind.. the battles were fun enough.. but the missions were sorta pointless and oninvolved)

The biggest problem I see with CoV is that it is little more than a rehash of CoH with new graphics and a few new features.

Sure, the newspaper is kinda neat and there is some new mission variety, but really, if you played CoH (as I did) and burned out on that then you likely will burn out on CoV within a week or two. That's what happened to me, and that was during beta.

Yeah it looks that way, though the PvP looks worth a punt.

Sure it has lots of new features, mission variety, along with new and different archtypes from the original game but it really is just the same game in a different wrapper.

                      Dino,
I am only reporting what happened to me. Sure, there is lots of new stuff, but to me it was all from the same mold as the original. The result for me was that I got bored qhickly. I am sure that some others will to, and some others won't.

For me though, it really is the same game in a different wrapper.

What were you expecting from an expansion?

Well did they add a lot of new stuff? Or is it the same, just with villains?

If you were bored of the regular game, I can't promise that you won't be bored of the expansion but you can noy say that they didn't try adding a lot of new stuff.

Something to hold or re-spark my interest maybe?

                              DrSpike,
There are quite a few new things, new but not always better. Some of the new archetypes have new powersets, but others just have the same powersets from CoH only rearranged. Having been part of the beta discussion I can see the justification for that decision, but I am not sure that a decision having a valid justification necessarily makes the game better. Maybe from the perspective of the CoH/V universe it makes sense for heroes and villains to share the same powers, but does that justification make the game more fun?

If you have had your fill of the same CoH warehouse/office on mision after mission, once you realize that all they did was change the tilesets you will find the CoV warehouses/offices all too familiar. Granted, there are some new mission types with new environments, but many are just recycled straight from CoH.

But really, you shouldn't take my word, I am just an MMORPG burnout who is seeing many more similarities between such games as Lineage 2, CoH, and WoW than I am differences. If you play any or all of these games long enough they will become similar and boring. So, it is probably better that you just take the plunge and see for yourself.
