So how do you go about finding if there are any planets left in your universe? i assume when you do a galaxy 'scan' and you see the list of names - the spaces left unnamed are available to be colonised?(if so i have about 4-5 available slots i could fill)

I was preparing to send some probes for germanos when I accidentaly typed the wrong number and lo and behold there was a totally uninhabited system before my eyes. I wish I had had the presence-of-mind to write it down... I have so many damned numbers running through my head now I can't remember where it was.

Edit: And I'm a ways off from being able to colonize. Like I said earlier, I want to focus on my defense and building up my industry (I include research in that) so I can get to the point where I can colonize every planet in an unihabited system in one or two moves (there's a limit on how many fleets you can send at one time; I've just learned I'm limited to 4 at my current tech level... Computer tech I think).

For the record, I've established my 1st colony in Uni3. weren't nothing special just another planet to build stuff on.

It would be wise to build it far from home instead of in your home system. Your planets defenses will not help it and soon both planets will be competing for places to raid that are close by.

however, having it close by will enable you to transport resources between the two.
