should I look for a demo Sava?

this is a WW2 shooter correct?

I should of specified but I was kinda referring WW2 era

On a side note, an older pc disc I picked up in a bargain bin was actually not too bad for $ 4.99..called Mortyr, IIRC..

hmmm I'm not sure if DoD: Source has a demo...

it is only $19.95 though... (www.steampowered.com)

it is a WW2 shooter... very good... I created a thread about it

it also comes with the Half-Life 2 Silver Package... which is $59.99

I'm one of those weirdoes not playing shooters, but good luck finding the good ones.

Day of defeat is teh lame. I want big open battlefields, not allyway brawls. Using the HL engine was a good idea, but using CS style maps? Needlessly stupid for a shooter. DoD Source stands a chance of being cool if they stop trying to make it "CS for people who like machineguns."
            Lime roots and treachery!

big open battlefields are fun if you have vehicles... which is why BF1942 is fun...

but CoD and the other WW2 shooter clones are lame for multiplayer... the Brothers in Arms game was one of the worst ones...

              needlessly stupid?

yeah okay... maybe that's why CS is the most popular online FPS ever made...

and why Day of Defeat is the most popular online WW2 shooter ever made...

              DoD pwns you

and it's the only game where you can actually spawn and have the MG42 or .30 cal MG as your primary weapon

never heard of hidden and dangerous...

every ww2 games try to do their own thing a little differently. They all have their own positive and negative. But I had the best time out of CoD... it had just enough realistic features for me and at the same time played like a quake type fast paced game, so i can actually perform crazy hollywood type actions.

Brother in arms (SP, i havent tried MP) was trying to be too damn realistic, which wouldnt be bad of in itself, but at the same time, the only weapons that were able to kill germans while in cover in single player was the sniper rifle and the machine gun. Its as if they had an invisble Anti-regular rifle shield cast over them as long as they were behind something. Even if half of their body was sticking out. The only way you can damage them is actually flanking and hitting them from the side or exposed. Kinda silly if you ask me.

i dont think big open games w/o vehicles have to be lame. Most of the time, vehicle games and cqb games play very lame anyway in pub games anyway becuase people do their own thang and just dont care about the consequence of dying. The cost-benefit ratio of playing most ww2 shooters as if your a terrorist ready to die guns blazing is just too overwhelmingly good. Perhaps if they started banning CD keys for 7 days everytime you died, people would start taking consequences seriously..

If there was one thing i did like about BIA single player, it was the fact that it actually did play somewhat like how you would fight in real life and teamplay doesnt feel artificial. it was naturally built in to the gameplay strategy because what you can achieve by yourself was so limited in that game. Forget clearing 8 machine gun nest all by urself by grenading, sprinting and doing some crazy m1 grand crackshot by leaning over the corner like in CoD.... in BIA one friggin machine gun nest on the middle of a road supported by 2 or 3 infantry on its flank is a chore for your whole squad....

Not a huge fan of either subgenre, but H&D is a mission based predominantly SP game, and CoD has MP as it's long term draw. There are more possibilities if you want the latter, though plenty of squad based shooters (similar subgenre) if that floats your boat.

                  Need more info really.
