Everytime I post in this thread, it seems I have an attachment.
Anyway, version 2 of my spreadsheet. It calculates production for various building combinations, simply enter the building level and the production %. Also added is a time calculator - how many minutes until you have enough resources for the next building.
For calculating energy usage, I have added a -2 basic "fudge factor" that seems to work at my current building level. YMMV. Let me know if it is different for you or if you manage to track down the forumla for working out what the difference is between reported energy and used energy.
I'm trying to figure out the point where Solar Sats are better than power plants.
Notes:
1) I'm using a weighting of metal=1 crystal=1.25 duet=1.5
2) For the Fusion Planet I subtract the power used to create the duet fuel. (it's ~1/3rd of the fusions total power). I do not account for the cost of the fraction of the Deuterium Synthesizer used to extract that duet. This means the fusion power is even more expensive than calculated here.
3) My planet is a cold one.

Looks like my intution about fusion plants is pretty good, they are only worth building as long as they are dirt cheap. I guess I'll save up for the next solar plant upgrade.
edit: I've got this thing where I write planet instead of plant or vice-verca. It started in the days of Stars! and I see I still do it...

Fusion Plants are great for back-up in case your Solar Satellites are destroyed. I have a couple, but they only run at 40% or something.
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
