  • If people watch bad movies for a cheap laugh, why not play bad games?

Of couse games are more expensive than a movie. And if you watch the movie on tv it's essentually free (except for time lost etc.).

But you know how watching bad movies is kind of cool. I was wondering why playing bad video games is not cool?

So I'm reading this review of a game called Dungeon Lords in this month's issue of CGW I just got in the mail a few days ago. And I know these guys seem to exaggerate the badness of the game for comedic effect. I think, the game surely can't be this bad, can it? They gave the game 0 stars. Only 2 other games have been that bad that they receieved 0 stars.

I'm almost tempted to buy it to see how bad it really is. Is that sick or what?

      you answered your question

if games were sold for 7-8$ you would say way less whining about bad games

I'm not so sure about that. I have a theory that computer gamers are whiners .

In any case, you can always find games at the bargain bin eventually for about the same price you pay to see a movie in most large cities.

That and they are interactive. You have to put effort in to get to the good stuff - in this case laughing at the game in question.

Some would say i mostly play bad games, and make an art of it.
They just don't know the 'evil dead' goodness they blind themselves too

Because with a bad game you have to solve stupid boring puzzles to get to the funneh bad. Puzzles like the menu.

Bad games are confusing and boring.

Bad movies are not confusing or boring. Well boring might be subjective, but they usually don't have enough plot to be confusing....

The translation was awful, but the gameplay was decent for the time. As it should have been, it was basically a clone.

what's sad is that so many people enjoy playing bad games...

just look at the popularity of the Sims series, Everquest, WoW, Halo series, Nintendog (in Japan), and every Nintendo original series game that has been updated in "3D" (i.e. Mario, Zelda, Metroid)...

edit: forgot about the FF series
