  • Good game reviews sites?

Which sites do you recommend for fair game reviews; what are your primary sources ('Poly aside)?

I mostly use Gamespot; are there others I should check out?

Gamepsot, gamespy... Gamerankings is also good. Its a metareview site so it gives you the average a game got on multiple review sites.

I used to love Gamespot, and I still read them out of habit, but unfortunately the claims that they are hopelessly biased cannot be denied these days.

Best is to read a wide range of reviews, and post here to get opinions.

Biased towards what? There is that Greg guy (?) who seems to love MMORPGs... Which kind of games do they like more (less) on average?

Biased towards some games and companies mainly, which makes it hard to get objective reviews.

Plus any genres away from core ones get short shrift - for instance adventure games routinely get 6 or thereabouts even if adventure game fansites (ones who are willing to call a duffer a duffer) rate the game highly.

quartertothree.com, by Tom Chick and Mark Asher.

Not a lot of reviews, but the ones they have are pretty good. They also have an interesting games forum, with a lot of posts by developers and other gaming pros. And some posts by our very own Child of Thor. A tad too console/action gaming focused for my tastes, but still an interesting site.

That's enough to put anyone off.

I found out about a lot of games just by posting at gaming websites (like Apolyton). Just recently I found out about Arcanum by posting at the Bioware website. We were discussing great rpg's, and this one came up.

Gamespot and IGN, but Gamespot's getting worse lately. There's some bias and some absolutely moronic parts of reviews, too.

When reading reviews I don't read the parts about what they actually think about the game, I only read the facts from the reviews so I can make my own conclusions
