If anyone of you is interested, I found a site where you can play the board game Wallenstein online. Wallenstein is one of my favorite games. It is about war, but it's no hex madness - the map is just the provinces of the Roman German Empire, the combat rule is "throw wooden cubes in a tower and what comes out of it is the result of the battle. Cubes that remain in the cube will influence future battles" (in the online version this is only simulated, half the fun, but still...), and there is a simple economic model to it too.
