    Chapter 4

    :words:

Captain Imperium had reacted with his customary heroism and valour, bravely invading Agath Agathari's totally undefended home bases, battleing through no defensive systems at all to emerge victorious. For later broadcasts exploding Agatharist ships were added using digital effects by Lorge Gucas.

And with regards to the lack of Lazorgeddon, it's probably a fluke. Nice to see some Fightergeddons and Torpedogeddons, though.

    • I'm a bit confused, again, by the casualties ... why did Jonny lose a fighterfrigate? Are you giving equal casualty numbers to allies (which isn't the case either, as I took significantly more than he), are you killing off ALL frigates before ALL battleships, which seems to be the case, or am I just on crack?

        Fightergeddon

        Torpeodogeddon

Lazorgeddon ( for a geddon, for lazors... quite passé IMHO)

        • I'm still waiting for the first Shieldgeddon or Spygeddon, actually, and we may end up getting it this turn...

            • Oh, and I think I see why Jamski removes casualties as he does. It's just (yet another) difference from GO 7-8, which is confusing for me.

More clear rules ... (as in clear enough for a moron like me, not just for Jaguar )

                Well...

1.) ALL Frigates removed before ALL cruisers etc
                2.) In order of OoB
                3.) Spread equally between allies.

So with a LTF OoB, a Laserfrigate is kylled before a Torpedofrigate, but a Lasercruiser is kylled after a Torpedofrigate.

This was the system as described in GO1, other GMs may have used different systems since then, and the GM of any game has final say in such matters. The advantages of the "official" system are that you can "control" your casualties, large ships gain a small advantage, and as the game progresses the smaller ship classes are naturally removed, keeping the GMing simpler.

Well, Smiley used his own casualty system. If he's GMing he has every right to. I'm not going to limit the GM's power.

As for clear casualty removal rules... why would a player need to know such things?

                  • I'm fine with your system - just not what I was used to.

The only problem I have, I guess, is that (at least in the games I played) no mention was made by you or anyone else that the removing system was incorrect and/or different. I mentioned differences in my GMing in GO 2.0, and expect the same of the rest of you, whether it be a change back to the official interpretation or not. Like it or not, many (if not most) of the players of current GO games were not here during GO 1... and don't automatically remember how you interpreted things

And it makes a huge difference to a player, but I presume you're being sarcastic.

Is there anything else that Smiley did differently from your system??

                      • It's about time I didn't hit a shield! And what's with the poor suckers who attacked the people who would obviously be shielding this turn? Galactic Overlords should be smarter than that!

One question on my battle: So bunching up doesn't have any effect when you're maneuvering? I don't quite see why: bunching up is (as I understand it) a defensive maneuver independent of your attack, just like closing in or backing off, so fighters are just naturally weaker when shooting at bunched up ships the same way lasers are weaker against backed off ships. Clarification?

And to those who say lazorgeddon is dead: Attack someone with all fighters like I did, and lazors are very nice indeed (though my battle admittedly didn't have much geddon).

                        • Jamski created the game. How is recognising his supreme authority in the rules "brown-nosing"?

I noticed that in your battle, and thought it might be an error, but I was about to go out to eat lunch with my sister so I didn't have time to post it. I think it's a mistake.
