A pretty fun game. You'd like the expansion, if only for the plot more helicopters = more money coming in, but you run out of supplies faster, so it depends. If you have a big source, build multiple ones. Also, build multiple helicopters and send them to several supply depots.
EDIT: wait a second, helicopters are for the US side. Why aren't you playing China or the terrorists like any good commie?
I played several missions and then got bored with it. The units of the different factions vary a whole lot that's for sure, but it's still de facto the same **** that Westwood produced earlier. Can't explain why, it just 'feels' the same... For some reason it didn't interest me that much. I've always preferred the Age of Empires games and that gameplay differs a bit, so that's maybe why
I have to say though that the game is awesomely much better than say Red Alert II which was awesomely suckage... the gfx were unoriginal, the units likewise... and the fmv scenes between missions were horridly amateuristic, pretty much like the entire game 'felt' like. All in all nothing beats the original Red Alert..
Damn that was one goddamn fine mothaafokking game :d!!!

I enjoyed the single player challanges in the expansion. It's one of the better RTS games for single player, in my opinion.

Well, I finally picked up a copy of this game. Does anyone else here play it? I was wondering whether the expansion is worth it.
Any good tips? I seem to have trouble keeping the money supply up. Do more helicopters help?
I don't have the comp to play it on line but heres the tips:
Power like a whore. Build a bunch of helicopters and send em out to all the disparate resource clusters. China and GLA can't really do this, but their supply center is cheaper so they can build those.
Get lots of secondary resource stuff. More helicopters past about 2 per cluster add nothing. Spread out the helicopters so they have very little wait time. If you do this right you should get a waiting time on bringing the money in, but that happens fairly quickly in any event.
You'll love the expansion story(in contrast to the original game story which you'll most likely hate).
The units are fairly well thought out for C&C, everything still has incredibly high lethality against infantry(crush, flamethrower, toxins, flash bangs, army snipers, etc). The expansion units are fun, and the new generals are interesting(except for the US side, where each general lacks tanks except the laser guy who only gets 1). You and Tass will love the final generals challenge general babe.
I don't like the super weapons concept, or the secondary money source concept, I feel both should be removed.
I played it, but uninstalled it cause the memory on my laptop would sometimes freeze the game.
First faction I played was the Chinese. They are the most fun faction to play besides the Americans. The GLA piss me off with their SAM nests...

I think thats a heat problem, additional cooling fixed that for me.
I installed again, the expansion GLA missions got old and boring(run Jarman Kell Around the map sniping everyone out of their vehicles, it gets old real fast). But the Chinese Missions are suprisingly interesting. Helixes are just retardlyed powerful.
Well, I bought the expansion and it is even more fun.
I actually think that the regular infantry for the US are great. They're cheap and those flash bang grenades are excellent for clearing buildings. The laser pointers for the rocket soliders are truly lethal.
That Col. Burton guy kicks ass too.
In the expansion that Microwave car is pretty useful.
park the microwave tank by an enemy barracks and watch the fun. Those things are rebel ambush begone, very very useful in the stealth general challenge.
I like playing as the US Laser General and teaming up with the Chinese Tank General vs. each of the GLA types. 4x2 gets pretty interesting (or tedious the way I play) and very drawn out. I set up a defensive perimeter around my base then the Chinese. After that I provide air support to Chinese advances while I build up Ion Cannons.

The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
