I like it a lot. I have been (and still am) playing WoW since launch and have just recently added GW to the rota.
GW is a completely different game. Lots of people compare it to Diablo II, but honestly, it 'feels' more like Dungeon Siege, but with lots more depth.
The PvP is the main thing, but it is not a gank-fest, nor is it a situation where you are getting beatdown by a 12-year old with a big sword. In PvP only mode, all chars are equal. Period. Equipment doesn't play a huge role either. All the skills are pretty much equal as well. You don't get a Fireball 1 spell that you won't use past level 3. All your skills are effective for the whole game.
This game all boils down to choosing the right skills for the right situation. You can only take 8 skills with you into any encounter, so you must choose based on what you expect to face.
This makes the PvP a very tactical battle, with a serious strategic planning stage.
I played the Beta, using various names from Discworld (Angua vonUberwald was my main, a ranger/necro I think, and Magrat Garlick was my second, a monk/elementalist.) I haven't bought the full game yet, but i'll do it eventually.
I agree with the dungeon siege comparison; Diablo didn't have much actual territory, a true dungeoncrawler, while Dungeon Siege was not a dungeoncrawler despite its name; although both are a similar game (not really a pure RPG but more of a merging of RPG with action, with less flexibility of path, while maintaining most of the character flexibility).

Is it just a coincidence that everyone here has chosen necro as part of their first character? Do they look really overpowered when you don't know much about the game?
need to do my takehome final and the last bit of grading first, though

I choose monk/necro because I like my irony served up rich and creamy.
Speced for healing, a monk is basically a priest. And the flip side of raising the dead, well, it's just fun!
I have been experimenting with another char also (Falla le Rone) whom is a ranger/mesmer. Doesn't seem to do a ton of damage with her bow, but she has some nice AoE skills, and I can just use my mesmer magic when something gets close.
Necro is interesting because it has several applications. It's basically a good second class for a distance character; it has a lot of nonsummoning related abilities in addition to summoning that are useful. It's not uberpowerful - it's really not a particularly good first class as far as I can tell - but it's a good second class, that you can use to supplement the primary effectively. It goes with ranger, mesmer, monk, and elemental mage pretty well ...

Skipping this one. Still enjoying EQ2 and so far no end in sight. I use to play only one MMOG at a time, and the next major game I will probably switch to is Vanguard.
Just got this last week, and in my typical fashion went through a bunch of trial characters to see what stuck, deleting what didn't.
Currently playing as Nemo Mairidh, a warrior/elementalist.
Though, I also have a Monk/Necro which was my first character Ulwis Devri. I like how that combo plays, but you really need to be in a party, and it's rough finding a party to get the sidequests to get skills. Henchmen suck. The main quests, though, partying is no problem. everyone wants a healer.
