FG: Battleships

As mentioned in the other thread there was a little talk about starting this as a forum game
You all know the basic rules of the game so I'm not going to explain them here

This thread is mostly just ment to see if there's any interest at all to start this as a forum game, so if you're interested post here


But I'm guessing there'll be little interest for this, so this thread will probably just fade away... but can't hurt trying

But I wasn't trying to "sell" the game anyway, just posting to say this game could be an option
Since I'll be the gm I probably wont be playing myself, so it wont matter for me if anybody signs up for it or not
It's just giving some people the chance to play this game against others...

I can't beleive I missed the other thread (though I am now used to watching for the "FG" identifier), but I had previously considered this as a likely possibility for a forum game.

Like someone else suggested in the other thread, I like the idea of several players playing one game, with different size ships all firing simultaneously. The more players the bigger the grid.

Last one standing (floating ) is the winner.

I would be interested. I haven't checked out the link to the flash game, but if you are set on that, I would check it out and consider that as well.

I believe the flash game is SP only, so I guess I'll have to do the graphics myself

Hmm ... multiplayer battleship? Interesting ... I'll think about a ruleset for that tonight. It is possible.

What rules we play by is still open for suggestion (this is a democracy afterall )

Here's the options so far (tell me if there's some options I haven't seen yet and I'll add them):

1) When two player have signed up I'll start a game with those two. There will be a scoreboard, but nothing special
2) A tournament where the loser of each game is kicked out and the winner goes to next round. Maybe this could be best of 3?
3) Each game is made from 2 teams, each team has 5 members and each member chooses it's own shot

Then there's the other rules about how many shots per game:
a) Some people play with a shot per ship except the 5-tiles ship that gets two shots. When you lose a ship you have less shots for the next round
b) A different way of playing it is with a specific number of shots (like 1, 3, 5, whatever)


How do you guys prefer to play it?
A tournament would be nice, but getting 16 players might not be possible...

I suggest that all major arguments and disputes be solved by playing Battleship. Asher and Agathon will have several games no doubt. Beats pistols and ten paces at dawn though doesn't it?

As a qualified second I have to disagree.
However, the game does have potential, and I'm sure Rah will allow it its chance. Too much spam, and it dies, but if enough people are prepared to play properly then I don't see why it couldn't enjoy another 19 threads or however many Hangman has got now.
