Don't know this game, but it doesn't look so bad, reminds me a bit on Pacific General.....

Anyone know any good turn based wargames to start off with?

I would suggest some of the wargames from the past that are still being developed and worked on by dedicated gamers such as Panzer General 2, Pacific General, Strategic Command, etc...
