  • I'm not all that familiar with the builder.

But you could use city tiles for the bridge. That way it will be stone (though it will be grey stone). And then use grassland tiles for the rest.

Have the 2 ends of the city tiles attach to the top of the grassland hills on both sides. And then have ramps so you can descend into the middle part. I can't remember that part in BG1 too well. I'm guessing you can walk under the bridge. this won't be possible in my set up. But you could at least be in the canyon on both sides of the bridge. iirc there were wild dogs as creatures in that map.

In fact, it looks like you only need one ramp, as I can only see one place to descen into the canyon.

for the city tiles you'll have to put an obstruction on both sides so you can't exit the bridge into the canyon.

    • You couldn't go under the bridge in BG.

I seem to remember some kind of fire traps/attacks on the bridge itself. Before you got to the boasting guy with the decent belt, and taught him that no matter how good your belt is, if 6 adventurers decide to turn on you then you're toast pretty damn quick.

This would be a lovely idea if there was a tileset that contained both city tiles and grassland tiles

          • I'm pretty sure it's possible. PR5 actually uses a city/forest tileset

, so I wouldn't be surprised if a city/grassland tileset had been made by someone.

            Or just make one yourself.
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

            • Yes, but then I'd need to make people use a hak. The module already uses CEP, and that's quite enough hak for anyone. Just a shame the CEP doesn't have any tilesets

                • Oh. Bugger. I haven't got CEP yet, because it's so enormous.
Never mind, just do that area last, and then wait and see how large a hak you will need to make all the other difficult sections work. If it'll be too large then you may have to compromise, but I'd be stunned if you could make the rest of the game work without using a hak of any kind. Keep up the good work though!

I've been playing BG 1 again (Damn you Jamski ), and have noticed that, with relation to the plot:

                  Plot spoiler:
                  Spoiler:
Bioware should send their lawyers round to visit the bloke who wrote the Da Vinci Code.

It's a great game though! I'm playing as a pure mage, and have only got 5 HP at level 2, so that makes things very interesting. Still, I'm about to rescue Dynaheir (and then let her fight people on her own without weapons or armour just so I can keep Minsc), so things aren't going too badly so far. I just wish I had some decent offensive spells. 2 magic missiles, a Chromatic Orb, and an Armour doesn't last that long, even with Minsc, Kivan and Khalid up front.

                  • There is a good argument for starting all mages as fighters, putting maximum points in bows, and immediately dual-classing to mage

                              • For laughs, a possible new magic item for Folderol:

                                Torn Shirt of Ogre Strength
                                Clothing (Armor, Base AC 0)
                                Ability Score: Strength +4
                                Ability Score: Constitution +2
                                Ability Score: Charisma -2
                                Skill Modifier: Intimidate +6
                                Skill Modifier: Persuade -6
                                Cast Spell: Blood Frenzy (3/day)

...you know how, on Star Trek, whenever Captain Kirk's shirt got torn, he suddenly became invincible? Kinda like that. (The Charisma decrease is due to the fact that the whole ripped-shirt thing looks a little goofy. )
