    To give away another meme
    I'll say it's got a spacey theme
The goal is to take control of any bot
And in the process not get shot

A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

      • I was going to guess that, and didn't for that exact reason. The version I played was well after the C64 days.

        • Well i know people still program/convert stuff for the C64, so maybe?

I'm thinking of a game that had robot ninja's...but cant remember what it was called, so i made my number2 guess

          • Nope, still not it. It's a mid 80's game people, not 90's

They still do CoT, although C64 heavy coding is becoming a lost art (e.a assembler). I would love to hear about the robot ninja's however

                      Yes, that it is

In paradroid you were a bot that had to take control of a ship that was filled with killer robots, some harmless like messenger bots but also combat bots. Every bottype had a specific number. The higher the number on a bot the more powerful it (generally) was.
What set paradroid apart was that you also had the ability to "influence" (control) other robots by bumping into them and take over their minds.

                      There's an excellent remake at
FreedroidRPG is an open source isometric role playing game [for Linux, Windows and MacOS]. The game tells the story of a world destroyed by a conflict between robots and their human masters. Play as Tux in a quest to save the world from the murderous rebel bots who know no mercy. You get to choose which path you wish to follow, and freedom of choice is everywhere in the game.

by this time games of this genre had started to move into full 3D, but this was a kind of pseudo 3D - and very beutifully done non the less.
