Now why were General Ordin and Zol Ventis' bases so poorly defended? The bulk of their forces had joined up to make an allied attack. Their target was also quite weak on the defense, but quite brilliant with the tactics.

Playing with Lasers

Expecting a heavy defense, General Ordin ordered the combined fleet to close and maneuver lasers for maximal damage. Zol's calculations had suggested a close battle against Polly's fleet.

Luckily, most of Polly's fleet had been off on the sack of New Constantinople. Ten laser titans remained, a testament to the vast production of the Siffan industrial complex.

Unlike Ordin, Siffan's commanders did not wait to maneuver, they opened fire immediately at point blank, blasting a good chunk of the laser ships.

And then what happened?

You didn't disengage then?

I don't think so. Honestly i don't remember ... but I don't think I disengaged during the first wave.

General Ordin was furious. While his and Zol's defense fleets were chewed up without firing a shot, Polly's ten doomed lasertitans had already wasted a greater number of his ships.

In the following blast he gave no quarter, unleashing 1,392 gigamegaultrajoules of energy, for a degree of overkill nearing a full order of magnitude.

The third round of combat saw a simultaneous exchange of laser, in which Polly's maneuvered ships finally succumbed to the General's superior numbers. 15 bases were captured. One of Ordin's lasertitans also required major repairs.
