Third Reich, 1776, Gettysburg, and Kingmaker . . . those were good games.

1776 and Midway. I remember how 1776 helped me on a test on the American revolution in high school history class. My buddy had Panzer Blitz, Panzer Leader, Luftwaffe, and Third Reich.

Third Reich, Third Reich Advanced, ETO and PTO both by SPI, Panzerblitz, Panzer Leader, Arab Israeli Wars, Turning Point Stalingrad....

I have some others but can't remember. I grew up the only person I knew who played these games. All my friends were much into sports or other activities to want to play complex games like these with me. $%^& they even thought that Risk was way too complicated!

Oh well, maybe when I'm an old fogey in some nursing home somewhere someone will want to play some wargames with me.

Kingmaker used to be fun with enough people.

I also used to play Gettysburg, 1776, War and Peace, Waterloo, Caesar and a bunch of others. My brother actually still owns them all, but they have disappeared into his attic.

                      Awesome thread!!!!

Oh, I miss those days. I have about 100 SPI games and many Avalon Hill titles: Third Reich, Panzerblitz, Arab Israeli Wars, Stalingrad, Squad Leader, even Tactics II.

I haven't played any since high school No players, no time.
                      Haven't been here for ages....

I seem to recall that you live near me in PA, Stu. If you want to get a Kingmaker game together sometime, I am up for it..

I found a demo for a Third Reich PC game (link). It's an old (one might even say abandoned ) DOS game, but looks interesting for those of us that can't find human opponents.

I occasionally played Campaign, but there were too few people to play many games with.

Yup, I'm near Lansdale. Sounds like an idea - I'll have to steal my brother's copy and get reaquainted with the game first.
