I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I play settlers2 gold edition - settlers3 got a try, but seemed to have lost its charm(as have the later versions).
I think for those who loved settlers(the first game got me seriously hooked for ages on my amiga) - then Settlers2 is considered the best in the same way people still regard Civ2 as the best. Not everyone agrees on this

I love the little rabbits hopping around the place
And what i felt when i saw just what my hunters did

        great game - very relaxing

I just wish Blue Byte (ehmm... I mean Ubi Soft) soon would make a REAL sequel to S2... wont happen though

I doubt it too - if we do get anymore expect the dreaded 3D approach!!

Hmm.....i play S2(g) on my P166, and its not quite as smooth as the origonal runs on my amiga - but i havent yet tried it on my new pc, so something to try this evening

There is another Settlers game in production, and it is using realistic 3D graphics.

But it has NOTHING to do with Settlers. As far as I know they have removed everything that made Settlers great

I remember that before they started on making that new "settlers" game, they had a poll on what people liked about the settlers series, and IIRC the comic look of the game was among the most liked parts of the game (ok, it wasn't actually a deep poll)... apparently they didn't care about their own poll

well Settlers2 didnt want to run on my new pc - i think it was having problems with the onboard graphics and sound chips during game setup? oh well, i'll have to keep my trusty p166 forever

Yup, I still have a machine with Win98 installed. It's a 1.2 Ghz though so it can easily handle old games.

Sound tends to be a problem with S2, so sometimes running the nosound file instead of the standard gets the game working.

I played so much S1 that although I enjoyed dabbling with S2 and S3 I never gave either of them significant playing time.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

Yeah the first was really fresh. Also, I can still hum the theme tune.

I installed S2 today (because of this thread, never had played the game) and I'm having lots of fun. Sound effects are working on my XP, but no music. Despite the aged graphics, the game is genuinely interesting and watching the little people doing their work is amazing.

What really impresses me is the attention to detail, like when you get a new message a dove appears over the branch of a tree. Too bad most of the games nowadays have lost this kind of attention to detail.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

If only you could replace the sound the guy makes when getting water from the well. :fingersonchalkboard:
