it would nice to know how much iron (for example) you can get from a mine before it runs out.

Mines need to be moved to new mining areas when the old ones get depleted. Which is not too hard, as your geologists can be mass-exploring a new mountain while the original mines are working. Once they get depleted (or even before) you can then start the new ones being constructed.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Wise guy.
and the amount in the mine before you start mining is?"A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber

Able to be seen if you have a map editing program that comes with the gold edition."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber

I suppose I COULD do a test run, build ONE mine, and see how much comes out before it goes empty. Thats a tad obsessive - i didnt even do that sort of thing for Civ2."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. for a while yet. Ive finally finished chapter 3 - took over 5 hours. Not a lot of new buildings, etc for a five hour chapter. There ARE new things in the following chapters, I trust?Originally posted by DrSpike
Then you shall forever be at the mercy of the Settlers' gods.

Just be aware that mines don't just mine the block they are in - they mine a fairly large area around themselves. If you build one mine it will last three times as long as 3 mines in a small area. It will also take 3 times as long to mine the same amount of ore though.
Each chapter adds something new. For example, chapter 4 (iirc) sees you playing with shipping for the first time. 5 sees you without fish for the first time (and in a race to mine as much stone as you can before your enemy does. This is one of the few maps I make lots of tools (picks) in). Later on you will have enemies attacking you outright before you have even met them let alone attacked them first.I'm building a wagon! ive started chapter 4. another annoying technical thing - if i pause the game and leave for some RL activity, and come back say 20 minutes later, the game is usually frozen, and has to be closed and restarted from the desktop to get going again. Given my RL time constraints, this makes going slower still. although it does give the chance go give orders with the game stopped, which normal pause doesnt seem to do.Originally posted by DrSpike
I agree. Keep with it for now.
