I heard the new Axis & Allies game got mediocre reviews.

I'm staying away from this game. Waiting for Gary Grisby's World at War

The game that just came out is a newer and completely different version of the original game.

Axis & Allies first came out as a board game by Milton & Bradley. The game was acquired by Avalon Hill, which then produced its own version of the board game. Micropose produced a computer version of the boardgame, which has been around for many years.

This latest version is a complete remake by a different company, but I read that the game's original designer was involved in its development.

Don't remember if this has been linked here but - http://triplea.sourceforge.net/ is a decent AA open source game. I have played a few games with it but I'm probably going to quit as it takes too long. One game I played each round of the 5 nations took an hour which is ridiculous.

apparently everyone from Babbages (Gamestop) to Walmart to Games-R-Us to Circuit City doesnt carry EU2

I did however get Santa to front me (because i am a nice guy at times)

a new copy of Axis & Allies

I just installed and gonna play some this weekend

I love it so far from the ability to pick various countries to customability to the editor for map to the map sizes

Ill have another opinion of course after a few great battles
