    Who's played this game?
I'm finding a couple of things with it.

    1. the manual isn't very helpful
    2. I cant 'be nice' to my dog, but can too other animals
    3. Its very nice.

Oh i'm on day4 and have 6 tomatoe plants and 2 watermelon plants growing(no fruit yet). One cow i get milk from twice a day. One chicken i get one egg from a day. A fishing rod to catch fish(well i lose a fare few!) - maybe two a day, one of which i feed to my dog. I also pick up two wild plants a day for either my soup or a salad.

Keeping that lot going takes up most my day and i'm wondering how to go about getting a wife? I dont have much time left in my day and usualy i rely on meeting people as i'm walking about doing my farm chores and getting food(fish+wild plants). I've been told that i need to get one, and was just wondering how to go about it? I think i quite dig(sorry!) the archeology chick - but so far she mostly ignores the things i show her(i've tried a vareity of flowers, a fish and an egg) - so what rocks her world? or maybe i'd be better going after one of the other girls?

I also find that i get tired easy, but my character still insists on getting up at silly o'clock(like 5am!) and seems to only want 6hrs sleep a night?? I'm thinking maybe i could improve my diet but am not sure how to, or what makes a good meal in the early game?

So really i'm after a few tips about this game - not cheats, just things you've found that the manual or in game info doesn't really explain very well.

I'm finding it refreshingly perplexing in a wonderfuly interesting way, but could do with a little advice.

I've googled but most of the links are cheat sites etc, and even just accidentaly seeing a cheat code etc might spoil the game for me. So its subtle advice im after?

I'm playing it on gamecube, but i think the PS vrsion is called 'Harvestmoon-back to nature', although it also has a PS2 version called 'save the homeland' ?

of those i think the PS 'back to nature' one is closest to the one on the gamecube, but i'm not 100% sure.

Give me some hints and i'll try them and tell you if they work or not

It is not a good idea to grow crops until you have the seed maker and the plant for making hybrids. Anything below S sells for a terrible price, but to grow S you need to put fertilizer on them twice a day, which is way more than S sells for. Thats where the seed maker comes in. You grow an S then replicate it into seeds so you don't have to keep dumping on that expensive stuff. I would recomend growing trees though, those don't go away and give alot of fruit each season, but are expensive and take awhile to grow. You can only marry Nami(red hair, lives at inn), Celia(brown hair, lives at the other farm), and Muffy(blond hair, lives at bar), no one else. If you haven't proposed by the end of the year you will be forced to propose to the girl who likes you most. Your guy always sleeps 6 hrs until you get the alarm clock which lets you set a time to get up. I would recomend getting a male chicken so you have a chance of getting fertilized eggs which you can hatch into a chick to grow your flock. Keep the females and sell the males.

aha! that makes sense, still my plants are growing well enough without fertiliser - i guess your saying they wont produce fruit without fertiliser?
And i was thinking on getting a cockeril to start to breed chickens, i'll do that tomorrow
Well Muffy seems the most keen so far, but i get the feeling she's like that with all the guys - so i'll not rush into things Atleast i now know i've got a year to get it right, thanks

b plants only sell for like 5g more than their seeds cost, they are really a waste of time.

but i can eat them and use them in my recipe's no? like tomatoe salad etc? Is eating important or not really?
I'm shocked at the price - only a few gold for all the love and effort into growing them, still maybe the game is trying to teach that money isn't the main thing in life?

              EDIT:

My chicken breeding program is underway, i've got my first egg in the incubator And i loved the reaction of my hen when i first showed her the cockeril

I've also planted two apple trees - i put fertiliser on them just in case, and i left about 4 patches of ground between them to give them space to grow.

I was feeling rich so bought a brush which my cow, Daisy, likes from time to time - it makes her sing a musical note

Still no real luck with the girls though(wow! like real life ), but as it's only day 10 i figure time is on my side
