I'm trying to make it more sensible in roleplay. If there is no victim nobody would know the existence of a vampire. The number of vampire can be guessed but it would not be known.

Then there are two possibilities: or the new 'kingmaker' is the first person made a vampire by the previous one , or all the vampires still in existence must thread carefully from then on. I think the last option is most viable as to give the vampires not too much of a chance to win.
That sounds to me like adding more complication to an already complicated game.

I guess I could start something tonight and see if we have enough people to have a test run.

I suppose this is much alike Mafia in terms of how to play? I'm in.

              Yeah I'll try.
How about a dangerous garlic/cyanide stick. This could only be held for one turn at a time, but gives immunity to Vampire attack. The stick has a useful life of 5/7/10 ? turns. The recipient must pass it on (copy to GM and recipient), holding on to it is death (likewise passing it nowhere is death, in which case the stick then reverts to previous owner). Getting it back again after a turn elsewhere is OK. A vampire receiving the garlic/cyanide stick is also protected from another vampire attack but may be prevented from attacking someone else that turn?. Confused betcha?

This counter antidote would introduce a random villager element and more intrigue but the power of the stick does run out after x turns. A question is should you know who sent you the stick or should that be hidden and the stick sent by the now (overworked) GM.

That's a good idea. I'll give it some thought. Its entire existence could be through PMs...
