  • Exult 3D : Ultima VII

Exult (an open source engine that allows you to play the original Ultima 7) is working on a new release. They've figured how to portray the original semi isometric graphics in a workable 3D environment.

    I'm completely floored!

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Can't wait until it's finished. Ultima VII takes the credit as my favourite all-time RPG, as it was the one that got me truly interested in RPGs. It's good that there are dedicated individuals working hard to keep classics like Ultima VII alive.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." -- Benjamin Franklin
"Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path of destruction." -- Thomas Jefferson

It's been back for a couple years with Exult, baby.

And I have to say that I'm very impressed with the 3d rendering of the original graphics.
