  • Bg2

My copy of Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, that I purchased off of ebay, has just arrived today!

The anticipation is almost unbearable. Half-way through the installation, but I won't be able to play until later this evening.

Anyway, I look forward to living the life of a hermit for the next weeks and months.

Congratulations on the wisdom of your purchase!

I still haven't finished the first one though, and then NWN came along to hog my Sunday gaming time. I'll get back to it though!

Upon first playing it, I was somewhat turned off, and found Diablo 2 to be a better game IMO. However, it has grown on me, and although I have not had much experience with D&D rules, I know the basics and don't think that will be as much a problem as some told me it would be,

It grew on me as well. First time I played it, I didn't care for it too much (first experience with infinity games- I didn't play Bg1, or IWD1 at the time)

It definately gets better when you get out of Irenicus' dungeon. Although the dungeon doesn't bother me too much, I never download the mod that skips the dungeon. What fun is that? My point is the game gets better when you get into the promenade and slums.

Oh, I remember. Trudging through Jon's dungeon, thinking "This is IT? Kind of a letdown after BG1." Then you get out and your jaw drops at all the stuff around.

Don't worry, I still haven't gotten out of the dungeon and I've owned the game for 2 years (at least)...

How long can one expect to be in the dungeon?

especially if you neglect the side quest and various treasures.

I'm greedy, and I try to collect all the treasures . Including standard weapons. I can't carry everything, I usually have to sacrifice things like short swords and such. But I try to carry as much as possible because money is in short supply in the beginning.

I still play the dungeon because I like the cut scenes. All of Irenicus' lines are so cool. One of the best bad guys ever.

I used to carry out as much as I possible could, usually left behind axes or some cheap weapon.

Good game I haven't played it in a while. I was going through a large dungeon
                            Spoiler:
Underdark, I hate Drows. I don't want to talk to them I want to terminate them It's a real pain especially after doing the asylum. I want to get back to the city.
and got really bored so Im taking a vacation from it for a while.

I definitly made some mistakes with my party selection. I wonder if I'll switch it up when I get out of the dungeon

the drow city is an annoying part of the game. If you screw it up you can't... well I won't spoil it. But it kind of messes up the game. I got stuck at one point and had to refer to a walkthrough. It seems like there should be more alternatives for that area. mind flayer city is pretty cool though. One of the more challenging areas of the game- at least until you figure out some good strategy. The beholder caves can be challenging as well when you battle those elders. Sometimes I"m forced to reload if they insta-perma-kill me.
