  • Great new strategy games out

I wandered off to visit a long forgotten real - gamespot.

I found a review of new and upcoming strategy games. I'm very pleased with the results.

This feature offers an at-a-glance summary of all the major PC strategy games of 2004.

There are tons of great new games that I can't wait to get my hands on. And I'm a very critical person when it comes to computer games.

Full Spectrum Warrior seems nice if only for the graphics.

Armies of Exigo is very fun (I played the demo).

Evil Genius I can't wait to play (I loved Dungeon Keeper, and this is funny too!).

Both Axis and Allies and Codename: Panzer seem like excellent games.

LOTR: battle for middle earth is not something I'd usually play, but it is very innovative in the RTS field. You shold watch the video.

Perimiter is a very tough and a ver unique game, which I also played.

Rome Total War seems promising, though I never tried the previous games.

Settlers : Heritage of Kings (is it settlers 5?) seems nice

Silent storm seems like a very fun and silly game.

Me and most other Settlers fans have tried to get Ubisoft (who bought Blue Byte) to remove the name 'Settlers' from the title, since it removed everything (and I mean EVERYTHING!) that has anything to do with Settlers (in gameplay)...

But Ubisoft keeps saying it's still Settlers
This space is empty... or is it?

Looking at those screenshots of Settlers (5); if you had told me that game was Settlers, I would not have believed you.

Yes, the graphics look great, but even the screenshots tell me that the game is nothing like Settlers.

Civilization IV needs the creators of SuperPower 2 on their side.

Silly? not at all... unless you're taking the war setting seriously. It is an amazingly fun game, though. Best tactical combat ever.

I suspect the reason they put panzerkleins and lasers in was to just show people how much better they could of done an X-Com game, without actually making one.

Perimeter was very novel, but an RTS needs to really be a heckuva lot more interesting for it to grab me. Maybe I'll get back to it later.

Rome TW I'm waiting for like a little kid waits for Christmas.

Ditto with Evil Genius, it's like Austin Powers The Game, except you get to play as Dr. Evil. The Dr. Evil parts in AP films are undeniably the best.

Hearts of Iron 2 is due within a year too, possibly as early as Q1 2005.

how is ubisoft still in business? anyway, i'm not too interested in too many of those games. rtw, and crusader kings are the only ones that peak my interest. the others just seem too generic though i admit i haven't read too much on them.

I've spent way too much time on EU, HOI and Vicky, but CK wore off on me quickly. It lacks depth and I can't help but to lament how neat the family tree and relatives thing could have been. I'm not sure if there's any amount of patching that'll rescue it.
