Now that I have the hang of it, combat is quite fun.
Its shields that annoy me. Having to work out 6 damage from a fleet...

A question: if Gamecube would have pressed an attack on my newly conquered bases, how would my fleet defend then? With the same OoB as I attacked Smiley, or in disarray?

I would interpret it as a fleets OOB, you have one out and one at home.

I would use the fleet's OoB too. You might have totally different ships at home.

I'd say the fleets original attack OOB, for the reason Jam stated.
