  • Mafia XX - The French revolution

    Paris 1790

It has been nearly a year since the revolution which stormed the Bastille and started to change the French society and Paris is still very much a place of power struggle, albeit of a different kind. The aristocracy and the clergy are stripped of all powers and democratically elected representatives in the National Assembly are now in charge of decision making and law passing. They are divided in several clubs which are probably more hostile towards each other than they are towards the symbol of the domination of aristocracy and despotic powers without limitations, King Louis XVI, dubbed Nuclear Master by his contemporaries. His popularity among the masses has diminished dramatically over the past couple of years due to the unwise activities and arrogant behaviour of his tactless wife Marie-Antoinette-Josèphe-Jeanne-Kassiopeia d'Autriche-Lorraine, queen of France of Austrian origin, who has managed to get at the top of most hated persons’ list in record time.

No longer can King Louis XVI pass any laws or to that effect make any important decision. He is actually lucky to be still in office with some powers vested in him, the most important of which is the suspensive veto. He certainly cannot order anyone’s execution any more. That privilege is now reserved for the Committee of Public Safety dominated by the most prominent leaders of the Jacobin faction charismatic Maximilien-François-Marie-Isidore Spiffor de Robespierre, whose ascetic way of life has distinguished him for his integrity, fanatical Georges alva Couthon, who although tied to his wheelchair was the most active of all new leaders in enforcing the new laws in the province and fervent young Louis-Antoine-Léon de Saint-Just, called Spaced Cowboy by his peers because he comes from the country. These three are the most feared men in all of France, for whoever crosses them is likely to purchase a one way ticket to the gallows.

Also members of the Jacobin faction are more moderate politicians of the new wave: Georges-Jacques Guynemer Danton, who led the first people’s army of Paris and Lucie-Simplice-Camille-Benoist loinburger Desmoulins who called the people to arms on the day the Bastille fell and Philippe-François-Nazaire vovan Fabre d'Églantine, reformer of French calendar. They share the desire to overthrow the King, but they may not agree with some of the methods advocated by the most extreme of all Jacobins, leader of their left egalitarian wing, fiery Jacques-René Hébert, called SnowFire because of his zealous speeches against the King and monarchy.

The Jacobins may not be very numerous, but they are certainly very vocal. Their opponents, the more numerous Girondins, are the main reason King Louis is still in office, because they support the government led by Jacques Raz Necker, an ardent royalist and very capable executive who managed to save France from famine in the years of the revolution. The leaders of the Gironde, Jacques-Pierre Octavian Brissot de Warville and Joseph-Ignace rah Guillotin recruited the most of their supporters from the aristocracy, such as marquis Jonny de Lafayette, commander of French army, comte Smiley de Mirabeau, Girondine ideologist and comte Tuberski de Sade, a famous author whose sadistic novels denouncing the public moral caused mixed reactions of the public.

But the members of the royal family aren’t helping themselves, scheming to overthrow the new revolutionary government and to restore the former order, seeking for support abroad. Duc ADG de Bordeaux and comte Kalius de Provence, who were long ago put on Jacobin hit list, have invited representatives of the greatest European powers to come to Paris and negotiate a solution that would bring about the restoration of the aristocratic privileges they previously possessed. The other countries were reluctant at first to send their high ranking officials in this hornets' nest, but eventually they agreed, persuaded by the master of diplomacy, Austrian foreign minister Fürst GeoModder von Metternich, who was worried for his compatriot French Queen and her son and heir to the throne Jon Miller duc de Normandie.

And so the representatives arrived. Prussia sent their best field marshal Gebhard Leberecht Jamski von Blücher, also known by his nickname Marschall Vorwärts. England elevated their delegation to an even higher level sending their prime minister William Chaunk Pitt, the younger. And Americans wanted to be better as always so they sent two seasoned representatives: Benjamin gjramsey Franklin and Thomas Theben Jefferson, who was accompanied by his mistress Sally HongHu Hemings.

The brigade of French Royal Guard led by general Napoléon Hercules Bonaparte was ordered to escort the foreign dignitaries. One of the guards was Nicolas Skanky Chauvin, a young soldier whose passionate display of contempt for other nations was later dubbed chauvinism.

A corporation setting is what I've been pondering myself.
