Neither the wraith nor the undead mass nor devils have the death touch-because it is so powerful. It makes sense only the grim reaper would have such a move.

That's why I don't understand how undead cities could grow in size.
Jamski gets it, which is why you see a cementary around the undead cities.

/me likes turning the WHOLE MAP to wasteland*
You can give heros items with the ability too, to speed the process. Or you can play Halflings or something and try the opposite...

AOW2 bored me with its single-element gameplay but SM sounds like it might be worth a visit once its cheap. Like UR I preferred the tactical necessity of having siege equipment or units with special movement with your armies if you wanted to capture walled towns. Letting everything waltz in rather defeats the point.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

They're undead. What's going to happen to them if they skip a few meals?

Yes, the Undead are not really in need of crops.

I think the 'paths' are of death (kills all vegetation), of ice, of life (revitalizes everything, turns it into grasslands), and of darkness (hides the map again for your enemy).

The only problem with that line of thought is undeads never produce anything.

They only have to raid the nearest graveyard for bones

                        Heya, Apolyton! Meesa back!!

Just got this game on Saturday, inspired in part by the discussion in this thread. Worked through the 3-scenario tutorial campaign and now I'm hooked. I was never interested in this strategy genre before until finally seeing all three LOTR movies in January. Wow. I've been missing a lot.

Anyway, just got killed early in the Norwood campaign. My Elven stronghold was overrun by three stacks of Vorsar's troops with my wizard in it. Thought Elf cities were supposed to be hidden.

So what's the key to success in this campaign?

                            That'll work!

Ok, upon restarting, I'm doing much better now that I found Beriad and recruited Storone. Nice of Beriad to already have a wizard's tower in place. I falsely assumed that Oakbark was the main town and spent too much time trying to develop it in my first game. Found that glade runners come in very handy for quickly exploring a mostly wooded map.

Just finished destroying the demon base to collect a big pot o' gold from the Spirit of Nature chick. All that should be left to do now is build up a big army and march west to take out Vorsar. It'll all be over soon.

                              Glade runners make excellent scouts.

                                D'oh!
Now why did I forget you could rebuild razed cities with a Pioneer? For only a modest investment you can end up with a fully developed city. I could be a lot further along by now.

Ok, so I'm nearly 100 days into the second scenario. I've located Fangir and made an alliance with him. I can't explore any further west due to the presence of two heavily defended Orc cities. What do I have to do yet in order to win this round? Just take down the Orcs and kill their wizard? Or is there something else? The scenario objectives text is pretty cryptic.

                                btw, Dwarven steam tanks rock!
