  • Why play MoM when you can play AOW2?

Although MoM does appear to be more addictive than AOW2.

I've just never seen it around. I flit back and forth between PC and console, usually when a particular title catches my eye. I thought AOW was an RTS?

      AOW/AOW2 are TBS.
Almost the same gameplay as MoM, but with improved graphics, music, some additions and omissions.

What additions, and more importantly, what omissions?

I played AOW, and I don't really see it as being all that much like MOM. It is however a lot like HOMM, but IMO not as good. I haven't played the sequel.

To answer to the question "Why play MoM when you can play AOW2?"

my answer is: I have MoM, but I don't have AOW2. Very simple and complete answer.
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

I played AOW 1 as well, it was fun, but not as much as MOM.

Any game that uses scenarios isn't as interesting, to me, as a 4X game.

              ACK!

I tried the AOW2 demo after reading about it here, and it just didn't grab me like MoM. Lack of a random map generator was a big factor, but my impression was that there's just not the huge number of combinations that I like in MoM.

                  Some additions:
Shrines for different deities, some opposing each other. Complete deity quests for treasure and improved deity favour. Deity wreaks havoc if unhappy.

                  Teleporters.

                  Omissions:
Cannot create own magical item. Although there are plenty of ready-made items.
