  • Number-of-records "declarations" in textfiles still used?

I am currently in the process of triple-checking my database-/textfiles and cleaning them up and I wonder if the commented "declaration" of the number of records that can be found on top of several textfiles (e.g. "#24" in the default strategies.txt) is still used by the program or needs to be there for some compatibility reason or if I could just delete them alltogether. I would of course prefer the latter .

In text files the character # is a comment character, so everything that follows on a line a # is a comment.

However there are still numbers at the top of a file, there are needed in databases that are still in the old format.
