  • A Cyber Ninja Crash

I'm playing my second game using the 2004.5.19 source code build, with the CTC mod applied. The first game worked pretty flawlessly, but this second game is giving me a crash to the desktop when an enemy cyber ninja (don't know if spies do it too) attacks one of my cities. I hear the cyber ninja sound, then "building complete" message as the turn cycles, and then it crashes to the desktop. I have attached the crash.txt log file for reference. It doesn't mean anything to me.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue? I wondered if I somehow had a corrupted saved game file. I backed up about 10 saves and replayed, but it happened the second time too.

    Any help is appreciated.

How about attaching the auto save file (or a manual save) immediatly before the crash?

That could be a great help for searching the crash reason.

i dont think its a good idea playing these test builds with mods

cause if there is a problem (like this one) it could be a problem in the build OR in the mod

Well a lot of problems that appear in mods are slic related or related to the text file modifications, the user can expect that the program should be correct with text file modifications or added slic code. So per definition the game does not crash with added slic files or altered text files, otherwise it is a bug in the source code that has to be fixed.

To the problem in the first place, it might be possible that the problem is not related to the Cyber Ninja, to verify this you could use the cheat editor and remove the offending Cyber Ninja. Then you can continue the game or can reload the game and with the gained knowledge you can eleminate the Cyber Ninja.

          Martin,
I deleted all cyber ninjas I could find and didn't get a crash. I will also mention I played a an entire game prior to this one without any such crashes, so that's why I was confused. Why did it happen in this game and not in the previous game? I hadn't changed any of my files.
Anyway, just wanted to address the question if a cyber ninja was involved for real, and it was....

If there was no attack by a Cyber Ninja then the crash wouldn't appear in your previous game.

From the crash.txt it looks like there was a problem with the autosave, well you could try to disable the autosave for that turn and see what happens. However this is of course no general solution, just for you current game so that you can continue as soon as possible.

However it would also be very helpful if you can provide us with a save from before the crash.
