Well, this got to be good for those who don't have MS Visual Studio at hand...

The only problem is that we still don't have any source alterations in the altered source files, even if the alterations were discussed. But to add them on my own I prefer to test them on a VC++ 7 and VC++ 6.

Yes... but it won't compile all of it because the code is still not completely VC++ 7 (or .NET) compatible (it was designed for VC++ 6). At least, I think it isn't, but I believe Martin was working on it.

There's a thread about getting the game to compile under VC++ 7:

where people claim to have managed it, but they didn't tell us all of the changes they made.

Was working is the right tense for it. Unfortunatly I have other things to do, to figure out the target file in that I have to move the Scheduler thingy. However M$ rewrote their STL so that cannot do anymore things with it which you were able to do with the STL of VC++ 6.

...so I had a look on eBay ....

New Visual C++ 6.0 Professional is out of the question, I am just not ready to spend that amount of money to goof around

However I did come across some possible alternatives:
1) VC++ 4 and VC++6 pro upgrade are both cheep
2) VC++6 Standard is also cheep

VC++ 4 is almost certainly hopeless. VC++6 standard might well be insufficient - I'm not certain what the differences are.

Well yes, but I assumed you need an earlier version installed to apply the 6 pro upgrade.

Pro does seem like a better bet...
