  • GENERAL: compiler program

I have been reading through the discussion of those currently attempting to get the program to compile. It looks like a lot of amazing progress has been made. Thanks to J Bytheway for sharing his experiences with VS 6 and RalphTrickey and mjs0 for helping out with VS.NET!

My question is which compiler would be best to use long term for the project. Activision used VS6 to put the original game together, so it seems a natural but it is a few years out of date now.

I currently have an old version of BorlandC++ as well as GCC on my linux system. I'm thinking about picking up a copy of VS6, but what would our experts here recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

If you want to be able to do anything in the short term you will almost certainly need some version of Visual Studio. For the long term, I won't make any predictions .
