COMPILE: Getting the source to compile

    Well I don't know what svn-code is. But if you can't find a directory called ..\ctp2_code\compiler\msvc6\stlfixes on your hard drive then it sounds to me that you didn't update your working copy for a long period of time. This folder came with revision 329 from April 11th of this year.

    So update your working copy first, and then look again. By the way a good idea anyway before doing any code changes at all.

    • thanks Martin, I found the folder I was looking in the old working copy.

      I renamed 'my games' to 'mygames' and I still get:

      'F:\My' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
      operable program or batch file.
      Error executing c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe.

      I fixed the directories for include and lib as well is there somewhere else to check. Or should I just move the code completely out of that directory?

      Edit: Ok I've gone back and move SVN-Code to its own directory, there are now NO 'my' folders and I checked tools option and removed any references in the include and lib directories. I have the right directories for directX.
      BUT I still get the F:\my error...is there somewhere else I should check? Why is it still looking there? How can I get around this?

        • I don't think so. I recall seeing something about this but not sure what it is...Can you direct to a post that says how to do this or briefly show where I should check?

                      Whoa!, the error is in the linker, so just post the linker part of the message.

                      Change the order of your library path under tools -> options -> directories and move the dxmedia directory above the dx90sdk directory

                        Well if you have a dxmedia and a dx90sdk then you did someting wrong, dx9 contains dxmedia already.

                        Well if you want to try this fix then you have to put your line of

                        C:\DXSDK9\Samples\C++\DirectShow\BaseClasses

                        in front of

                        C:\DXSDK9\Include

                        Of course it is better to use the new files of dx9 than the outdated ones of dxmedia.

                        If this fails you can go to the menu bar -> Project -> Settings there select the ctp2 project and the current configuration for instance Win32 Final go to the linker tab and there go to object/libary modules and swap the order of amstrmid.lib and strmbasd.lib.

                        Well another think I worry about is the following:

                        Espeacilly these warning D4002 did you add /I "..\gs\gameobj" or /i "..\gs\gameobj"? Note the difference between the capital "I" and the small "i"!

                        And by the way why did you modify the project options of dbgen? dbgen isn't a mapplugin, Crater, fault geometric and Plasma2 are mapplugins.

                          I'll check on the other stuff, but the .../gs/ stuff I did add but like I said before there are many tabs that say project options do I add those lines to all of them or just certain tabs?

                          • Well I forgot to mention that this is on C/C++ tab. But actual it shouldn't be too difficuilt to find the right tab, since only the this tab uses the /I option.

                            And here is a screenshot of it.

                              • Well the first two things are normal if you use an introductory version of VC++ 6.0, and for the last thing I can only quote myselfg.

                                If this fails you can go to the menu bar -> Project -> Settings there select the ctp2 project and the current configuration for instance Win32 Final go to the linker tab and there go to object/libary modules and swap the order of amstrmid.lib and strmbasd.lib.
                                One thing I now know definately is that it doesn't work if you swap include directories and using the outdated stuff from DXMedia isn't a good idea either.
