  • DESIGN: science victory?

Well I had this idea about the source code

We all hate the science victory I know that always the science victory has been biased to a large empire and with gaia it is totally impossible with a one city challenge

So I had the idea of changing it I went throw the over ideas

Alpha colony ship – favours big empire

    Gaia – favours big empire

    Alien life – big empire

Global Shield grids – big empire

Evacuation – favours never as it is city based

So based on the evacuation of the planet like the idea I had for my scenario which was impossible via slic there is the option to do it with the source code each city slowly being turned form a ground city to a space city when all city are launched the player can travel the stars and leave what is left of earth in peace.

Based on this plan I made some mock ups of what the science victory screen would look like

This is one prier to launch

this one is of a city with only a hyper drive made

also the I have not decided whether the space city should increases size with population or at stages of construction any ideas

While I, like most everyone else, would love a change to the science victory, isn't evacuation of the planet just a little bit defeatist anyway?

What about Utopia? Isn't that the whole point of advancing science? To get to the perfect living conditions? Have rules like:

      - No polution in cities
      - Sustainable population (no lack of food)
      - Inhabitation (Arcologies in every city)
      - Sustainable raw resource useage (Fussion power/solar/wind)
      - etc.

bigmcs idea fits in with his scenario more than it does with a normal game of civ, although the planet is probably gonna burn up in a cloud of toxic air, id like to think it wont Larger empires should have some advantage because its true and fair to good gameplay.

One problem is how science is collected, how its much more beneficial to build more cities, than to build more science improvements. Perhaps give science bonuses for trade, and make crime/corruption worse.

You want to hear the truth and nothing else than the truth?

            OK I'll let you know.........

            They look nice

Maybe you want to change the colour of the projects when finished? Or put a frame around the masterpiece

Well speaking of frames you could indeed give the mini map a bigger frame in the design of the control panel. And I think also the science victory window could get a new design to make it better fit with the rest.

Well you could use a better picture for the thing in the upper left corner. The rest of the items on the science screen look fine.

Has anyone ever tried to unlock the Middle Earth map?

You have to use the cheat code "leemur" in CTP2 to find it. It doesn't show up in any of the code or text files - it's based on the random number generator's internal ID.

just concentrate on the science victory screen the other graphics are part of a skin I made for ctp2 and is an unrelated mod

so id I changed the part borders so that they looked blue or silver and when the part is finished the frame becomes gold

Your Sci-Fi graphics are good The Big Mc, I suppose that you are talking about the borders of the Science Victory screen turning silver and then gold when you complete the project.

As far as I am concerned I like to play CtP2 with the basic concepts mostly unchanged. The least the concepts are changed the better. As a result, the only mod I play is the Super Apolyton Pack 2.0 with the Updater2, some of Martin's files taken from the GoodMod (to improve the AI) and some twickings of the APOL files so that the Science Victory can be reached in the 2300AD limit.

I don't think anyone's ever found that, given that various people have spent ages making their own Middle Earth maps. Where do we have to leemur this time?

                          Screen name.

                          Leemur (I believe it's case-insensitive, but I can't remember for sure.)
