anybody know how to use this in xp without it crashing all the time? Say I want to look at cradle files? Or just look at the standard gamefile. It crashes with error code 5 generally.

Okay, I think I got it.

First you got to copy all the files into the same folder as ctp2.exe

then edit the .ini file that's created and append the dir's with a \

    then create the temp folder

then open ctpedit, first thing, open a gamefile record (don't try to create anything new).

Then you can do some stuff. But if your not careful it will still crash.

I believe it's for ctp2. I got it working finally. It was a problem with Cradle iii. I wanted to use ctpedit to do a quick x# of the advance cost tree.

Here's the synopsis of the problem.

When I'd open the gamefile and then double click on advance.txt, I'd get an error message saying it can't find a str.txt file in english\gamedata. Turned out that the wrong name was being referenced for the str.txt file, so I copied the str.txt file to be the name it was looking for.

Example, it was looking for Cradle_~...str.txt so I took the ~...str.txt and copied it Cradle_~...str.txt, voila, worked.

The program is finicky, but it did do the x6 advance cost I wanted rather quickly and the file worked. be wary though, I recommend making your own gamefile and modded files before hand, because if the program crashes, it will save the changes you've made.
