  • Production carry-over

Does surplus production carry-over from one item to the next? As in, if (early game) I am building an archer (150 prod) in a city with 100 prod, does the next item get an extra 50, or am I losing 25% of my production capacity? If so, what does this mean for the merits of ridiculous micro-management?

    Does research carry over?

If you hurry an item, is that turn's productivity gone to waste?

Yes, excess production and science carry over to the next item.

      Production doesn't, science does.

Not if you use 100% public works on that turn. It can be a good idea to rush buy lots of stuff that's almost finished, and use 100% pw for that turn.

I just tested it and you're right. Maybe it should be changed to reduce the potential micromanagement.

Seconded. I do declare it worked right good in Civ4. They were also careful to make sure that you didn't get feedack loops with it and the production bonus modifiers.

So is this your next source code task?

It probably wouldn't be that hard, but its something that would need Martin's approval first, don't you think?

Not if you make it optional, which I probably would anyway.

Hans, did you know the lemur is the official mascot of CtP2? (no really)

I did see some mention of one "lemurmadness".

                        This could prove...advantageous.

I've had Lemur-related screen-names since 2000, so this is simply a coincidence. (Or is it?!!!!!)
I've always been a fan of the turn-based strategy genre. Gives you time to think.
