  • AE Mod crashing to deaktop.

I tried the AE Mod. The one that plays as a scenario.

I have the Apolyton Pack installed and it plays properly.
I also have the 1.11. official patch installed.

I put the AE Mod files in the scenario folder and started the game.
The AE Mod scenario shows in the list of available scenarios as 2 different scenarios and when I try to start either of them they crash the game to the desktop.

The regular AE Mod scenario gives the message

    Tileimp.txt:46 unknown token

    Then a second message

    data base error
    tileimp.txt:46
    warning:required field level missing.

The the AE Mod religion mod scenario gives the error message

wonder_shrine_zoroaster not found in dataa base.
    shrine_egypt_not found in data base.

Do you have the Apolyton Edition patch installed? You need that to play the "AE mod" scenario.

I thought that the Apolyton Patch was the same as the Apolyton Pack which I do have installed.

The "Apolyton Pack" (sometimes including "2.0") is an old mod that was made for the original game long ago, it fixes some bugs and makes the game harder.

The "Apolyton Edition" patch (sometimes referred to as the "Playtest") is a new ongoing project (called the "CtP2 Source Code Project") to fix ALL bugs and improve the game in as many ways as possible. Many things have already been fixed, including everything that was in Apolyton Pack, and many more things too.

Finally the "AE Mod" is a mod similar to the "Apolyton Pack", but is made only for the "Apolyton Edition" patch. For now I would ignore the "AE Mod", and just download the AE patch (you can see the download link in my signature below), and play that normally.

Thank you for the clarification and the download link.

          I have downloaded it.
I guess the best thing would be to uninstall the game and do a fresh install then add the official patch and then the Apolyton Edition.

I'm actually glad that I didn't have the best mod for the game.
I ran into a fair amount of oddness playing The Apolyton Pack like finding I was at war with someone I had only just met and then left his land on request. They then asked for a cease fire, I agreed and they declined!
Then they were mad at me for a trade embargo that I never initiated.

Well, I'll be running the new setup Sunday.

Thanks again for your patience and help.

You can skip the official patch if you're installing the AE.

If you run into any problems like this, or other bugs, you can report them in the source code project forum here. There will always be a thread in this forum named "Playtest thread" or something similar, this is for reporting crashes, bugs, or just general comments.

No, the best option is just to put the Apolyton Edition on your existing copy of CTP2.

I unzipped the files into the Call to Power folder and started the game.

Modsswapper still shows up as the way to start the game.
It has Original game and Apolyton Pack as the choices.

If I try Apolyton Pack I get errors that many game files can't be found.

If I choose Original Game then the game starts and crashes to Desktop with the messages:

Sprite_Longbowman not found in Sprite database. Continue?

                I click yes

Sprite_Elephant_Warrior not found in sprite database. Continue?

                I click yes

Then I see that CtP2 is in the taskbar so I click ir and the game splash screen shows up and I can start the game.

It is the start screen for Apolyton Edition.

So, should Apolyton Edition be showing in Modswapper or is playing as original game the way it is supposed to be?

Should Apolyton Pack be broken the way it is now? (I get many, many errors about missing files)

How do I get the missing sprites?

Then, I looked at the scenarios folder.

All of the scenarios have the same problem. I try to start one and I get a message

Icon_order_upgrade not found in icon database. Continue?

I click yes. The game launces and the error comes on screen again. Click to continue and the game completely disappears.

Shows up where? You should just uninstall modswapper and start the game with ctp2.exe, which is in the \ctp2_program\ctp folder.

OK I tried using the CtP2.exe and it starts the game.
However, all of the problems in my last post still exist.

I stll get the crash to desktop and the error about the Longbowman sprite missing and the Elephant Warrior missing.
Then I can start the game by clicking on CtP2 which is now in the taskbar after the crash from the error messages.

I got up to the point where I was building Longbowmen and the game crashed.
Maybe because the sprite is missing as per the error message.

I just reloaded the game and put the Longbowman in the build cue and did a rush buy and the game immediately crashed.

Where do I find a crash log to send?

A crash log is not necessary because we know what your problem is, you're missing the longbowman sprite (and perhaps other stuff). I would uninstall modswapper and CtP2. Then reinstall CtP2 and then the AE patch, since it seems your install is messed up. We could diagnose exactly what is wrong with the install but I think it's quicker to just reinstall it.

When you've reinstalled these I suggest only playing a normal game to begin with, not any scenario or any mods, since most aren't error free with the Apolyton Edition yet.

                        Regarding the crash log:

                        #4 How should I report a bug?

Include as much relevant information as you can. If possible explain how to replicate the problem. If appropriate, attaching a screenshot or a savegame is helpful. If the bug involves a crash to desktop, then it is helpful to include the crash log. You can enable crash logging by editing your userprofile.txt (in [Your CTP2 directory]\ctp2_program\ctp\) to set EnableLogs=Yes. The log can then be found at [Your CTP2 directory]\ctp2_program\ctp\logs\crash.txt.

I actually have the same problem.
After reinstalling the game (german version) on Windows Vista 64 I get those "Sprite_Longbowman not found in Sprite database. Continue?" error messages.
Do I have to install the 1.11 patch before installing the Apolyton-Edition?

I also have exactly same problem.
So where can we found these sprites and how to add it to the data base?.
Btw, when i check the version of my ctp2.exe (properties) it says ver 1.2.0.0

I can't remember exactly what happened here but if the two sprites are missing HERE they are. Extract them to ...\ctp2_data\default\graphics\sprites. (You may need to register at WPC to download these, sorry couldn't upload them here as 'Poly doesn't accept massive zip archives of 700KB).
