      I got out one message, but it was way too slow, had to restart again.

      We could try you hosting without the dlls, if you're still around.

          Probably, on the server anyway.

          Hopefully I can try it with Toni or someone else and see what happens. If not it'll have to be hamachi or something.

            I created a network on Hamachi anyway.

            name: Call to Power II

            password: apolytonctp2

            Hamachi basically allows you to play as if everyone was on a network.

                Well me and Badfuzzy (EPW) tried to get it working over Hamachi but we couldn't see each other in the LAN lobby, even though we pinged each other fine. Then we gave up.

                    Well it didn't work with me and EPW, or to be exact it did work for about 10 minutes per game, then suddenly for either one of us or both the game (and our PC) would slow to a crawl, and a reset was usually required, as alt-tabbing or alt+f4 was veryyyyy slow.

                    I experienced a similar problem when testing the CtP2:Apolyton Edition multiplayer with Martin, I thought that was just a problem with the AE, but who knows now.

                    There may be a problem with the server, or with the new anet dlls and the server. We couldn't test the game without the new dlls because we both use WinXP/2000, and we couldn't join each other's games with the original dlls. We also couldn't get hamachi working, but I know it's possible because others have posted here who use it.

                    I may install a small Win98 partition in the next day or two, but it's hardly a solution for most people.

                      yeah, don't really favor putting a win98 on my vista... vista may be even a bigger problem then?...

                        Well, I have a hard drive full of Win98, which is left from my old computer, unfortunately it doesn't work because Win98 cannot handle the 2 GB of ram in my computer. Too much memory.

                        What do you consider "this is it"? I could say when I will hopefully finished the AI improvement I am working: "That's it." But of course the development will continue since CTP2 is huge.

                          that's up to you - you just need to say it! ;-)

                          in earnest, just saw that you the other day you said that a fix was the second to last one that you were planning to do - and then once we are that far - well, an official playtest version would help

                            Well I only have 1GB so it's no problem, only problem is partitioning my hard drive for a simple thing as this. First I'd like to test again with someone else using WinXP/2000 and both with the new dlls installed.

                            It would take around 15-30mins to run a MP game long enough to know it's working.

                            So if anyone interested in a MP game or just testing it, then post here. Or go to the apolyton chat room, I will be there for the next few hours.

                              Well, actually I replaced a huge chunk of code so that the AI is able to grab a bunch of units and throw them stacked on an enemy city.

                              As it is if you change a lot you can break a lot. Unfortunately it is not only breaking a lot, but also of showing up new problems that were present in the original version but had a low impact.

                              In fact, I need more time than I thought. Probably I'll split off a part of the modifications. Those that fix some of the old bugs. And the new AI code has to wait.

                                I need to install the game and see what happens. Rl has been pretty busy for me lately, just for the record i got married yes that is right married lol. So i will try to contact you guys during the weekend.

                                Keep the good work trying to debug the current host problems

                                I will be watching the thread.
