  • Changing the Gaia controller screen...

I had the urge to revisit my mod for my personal setup. I've done some file tweaking, added some new wonder movies, and adapted some of the graphic changes that I made for AOM.

This past week, I've been playing a modified (Cradle) Gaia controller victory that is set up for the Roman Empire. I've been mucking around in the Cradle files, and I been trying to find the screen graphic for the controller. It does not fit the theme of the Ancient world, and the type needs to be changed too.

Is there any way to do it? I can't locate the file, and I'm wondering if it is a similar setup to the way the tiles are handled.

The Gaia Controller window seems to be controlled by sciencevictory.ldl in ...ctp2_data\[yourlanguage]\uidata\layouts.

At the bottom of the file is the name of the 9 background images that make up the frame of the window for example.

The rest is easy to find if you look through sciencevictory.ldl with notepad and look through the pictures (pic555.zfs) with ZFS reader to find the corresponding picture to change.

Thanks, with your tip, I was able to figure out to change the descriptives in ldl.str.txt. At least now I can get the type to match what is going on in the game.

I never had to go into the .ldl files before...

This I'm not sure about. I'm under the impression that this file is similar to the tiles file, which can be edited in TileEdit.

Googling ZFS Reader doesn't seem to get me the program I need to open these files - just some sort of Mac-based platform add-on. And does the ZFS Reader allow editing, or is it just a way to see what is in the file?

You can download ZFS Reader from the Apolyton download section here:

ZFS reader doesn't allow editing, just to export a picture to a format you can edit. Then put the finished TGA's in the pictures folder as usual.

          Thanks for the reader link.

However, pic555./zfs pic565.zfs seems to be a holdover from CTP1...no CTP2 graphics in them.

You need to open the zfs's from default/graphics/pictures, not [your language]/graphics/pictures.

                Easily done!

BTW, do we get to see it when it's finished?
