  • cradle with gigantic world map

    Hey,

i was wondering if there was a gigantic size world map to go with the cradle mod. Palpatine's world map only works for the apolyton pack. If anyone knows one it'd be great...it much improves the game for me.

    Cheers!

...sorry, should clarify that i mean a real life world map with Africa, America etc. that works with cradle mod.

I don't think one exists, at least I couldn't find one in the directory. Strangely there is a scenario for most other mods based on OmniGod's world map, but not one for Cradle. This is probably the best world map available though:

You would have to create the scenario yourself with Cradle and import OmniGod's map. If you intend to do that and need more help just ask.

        great...thanks for the info.
I want to use one of the massive maps so i think i'm gonna import Palpatine's world map into cradle and just edit it a bit in terms of settler units and goods. Shouldn't take too long i don't think.

On that point, do you know how i can increase the number of civ names available/ if i can use the old civ names (so that i can play with the likes of Canada, England, France, Australia etc...) I've had a quick root around the game files and couldn't find txt files relating to this.

        Many thanks!

...i've found the civ txt files at ctp2data, sub folder gamedata, under CRA_civilisation. But if i edit these, say by changing names or editing in the APOL_civilisation data the game crashes as soon as i load it...even if i keep the number of civs at the 33 level used for Cradle. I've never done any text Modifying before so don't know if what i'm doing is the right approach...

If anyone could help i'd really appreciate it.

          Cheers.

Do you want to use the original set of names (Canada etc) alongside the traditional Cradle names, or just the original set? Using one set or the other is a lot easier than mixing both sets, it's just changing which files Cradle loads with.

If you intend to add more civs to either set then you need to make sure the two files that are loaded, CRA_civilisation.txt from ...\ctp2_data\default\gamedata and CRA_civ_str.txt from ...\ctp2_data\english\gamedata match each other in order and number of civs. It's obvious when you see both files.
