Cpt2 fails to load at startup

Ok, I have been trying to get my copy of ctp2 to run for ages, I have reformated my system, used on different computers, used different versions of windows (win98, winxp, winxp 2006 corporate lite (cut down version) and have not been able to get it to run.

I have used my old disk, bought a new one off ebay, and even downloaded the ISO version to try it.

Whenever I start it up, it claims to have an error, the screen will flash black, then it will turn off resulting in a windows error. The only weird thing I've noticed during install is that it will install very fast until it gets to the mid 90%'s, then it stalls for a few minutes, then completes the install.

Anyone have any advise? If so please help me out.

What's the error it gives before going black?

"This application has failed to start because dbgeng.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."

I had attempted to reinstall many times, but with no success.

All I can suggest is if that file is really missing from your system, try downloading dbgeng.dll from somewhere (search on google) and put it in your c:\windows\system32 folder.

Thanks for the advise , I did as you said (I actually already downloaded the dll, just had no idea where to place it) not it just loads the black screen without a error =/ then cuts out.

Also what version of CtP2 are you using? Patched with the official 1.11 patch, Apolyton source code patch, etc.

I have used the following versions:

normal first shipped version (unpatched)

and 1.11 patched version.

neither work.
