  • Help!

I've just installed the AE version and although it runs I do get a number of error messages at start up and during play.

During startup the error messages are titled DB errors and says something like

    icon_good_acrtic_mountain_three is missing. Continue?
    icon_good_acrtic_mountain_four is missing. Continue?
    icon_good_swamp_three is missing. Continue?
etc etc about 15-20 times pressing the Yes to continue with each question.

Also, once the game starts every time I select the diplomacy button I get an error message stating

[name of civ leader].tga file is missing. Continue?

Although it always runs I am getting fed up with the constant messages . Can someone please help.

I had AOM 3 installed originally, used Windows to un-install CTP2, then installed vanilla CTP2 from disc, followed by the 1.1 patch, modswapper, and the three AE winrar files of the 20060826 build. I have not added any further updates to the 20060826 release presuming it was the latest fully working release.

If anyone can point me in the right direction where I can get these files would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks

Did you remove the ctp2 directory completely after uninstalling? If you did not, there may be old AOM files left in the ctp2_data directory.

The messages come up every time I load up CTP - it's beginning to p1ss me right off.

Those missing tga files, is that something to do with the diplomacy mod?

Once sorted I'd like to have a go at the call to conquest mod.

Medium term wise do you still need playtesters?

          In reply to Fromafar:

I uninstalled the software through Add/Remove from windows believing this would delete all necessary files.

How do I know if there are still some AOM files - will they have aom as a prefix?

[how do you insert a previous message you want to refer to?]

Add/Remove will probably not remove the AOM files, but only the original CTP2 files. Check e.g. ctp2_data\default\gamedata for files with AOM prefix, and also check the contents of gamefile.txt in this directory.

yeah uninstall only removes whats on the disc. i uninstalled recently and had to delete a lot of stuff afterwards.

by the way, you can copy call to power and then put aom over it and have it be an aom game then have a separate ctp2 game its easier than modswapper though it takes up more room

                Thanks for that.

I will look for the files when I get home tonight.
