Exellent! I was just signing back in to find how to fix the thousands of tiny Islands.

Perhaps E, this is something that could be adjusted in the source code?

      28 players in Mulyiplayer

I'm going to have to side with you E, there is no way to make more then 9 players in mp as a choice. Like I said Earlier though, there should be something you can do in the source code. But there is a way to have more then 9 players in mp, I've found a work-around that I'm sure you and others already know about.

Well here it is step by step (for someone who might not know how):

Note: All of the paths are if you installed your ctp2 in its default directory.

ONE: Go to C:\Call To Power 2\ctp2_program\ctp and locate your 'userprofile.txt' and open it. At the top where it says "NumPlayers=X" Change the 'X' (number) to the number you desire, no higher then 32.

TWO: Next step is to find this directory; C:\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata and locate the file 'profile.txt'. Open this and in the 4th line down change the line "NumPlayers= X" to the same number you have in your 'userprofile.txt' file.

EXAMPLE: So if you changed the "NumPlayers=X" in your 'userprofile.txt' to 29 then the "NumPlayers= X" in the 'profile.txt' should also be 29.

THREE: Now start your Call to Power 2 and create a new game. Its very important to not touch the number of players selection, or it will reset back to 8players. You can change any of the other settings as you please. Select to start the game with with "Launch Editor".

FOUR: Here you can choose the starting location, or the race of each of the 27 AI, and yourself. You might also want to find out what your Human opponents would like to be as well, since nothing else can be changed once you load this into multiplayer.

FIVE: Exit from the Editor after you've made all the changes you desire, and select to save the game. After saving simply quit CTP2.

SIX: Next thing is to locate this directory; C:\Call To Power 2\ctp2_program\ctp\save\games, and you should see the folder with your particular save game in it, and copy the save game folder. Go back 1 (directory:C:\Call To Power 2\ctp2_program\ctp\save) and select the mp folder. In this folder paste your save game.

SEVEN: Go back to your 'userprofile.txt' and change the number back to the number of players you chose for your save game. Do this only if the number reverted back to its default number(s). Mine does this, and I have to change it everytime I want to play more then 9players.

EIGHT: Next is to start CTP2 and select to play 'multiplayer'. When you create your game select 'Load Saved Game' and find your saved game with the X-amount of players on it and then wait for the other human players, launch the game and you will have more then 8 AI to play against. Or 32 Human players, I can see 1 turn taking 3hrs. . . .

      A couple of important notes/reminders:

Note1: Do not select the "Load Game Setup" in multiplayer as you will only be able to have 8 players.

Note2: Make sure your opponents 'userprofile.txt'/'profile.txt' are setup with the same amount of "NumPlayers=X" as you have. Also, if you made any other changes, make sure your oppenents have those changes in their files as well, otherwise their data base will be out of synch with yours.

I would like to post this in the CTP2 Faq where questions and answers are done. But I'd like to make sure everything is accurate, not over complicated, ect. I will have more time to player around with later tonight.

OK here are the problems I experienced:

          1. I attempted to change the second player to Russians for my wife, when we restarted the game she became the 3rd player, Scotlands.

          2. Cannot enter any other age then Ancient. Cannot gain any other technology than what is in ancient.

Perhaps someone could play around with this and figure out whats going on? Try playing with different numbers of civs, lower then 28 and see if that changes anything.

If someone already knows the problem and a possible fix please let me know.

I'm not able to try and fix it for the next day or so. I'm obligated to my wife, I spent a week not spending much time with her at all, either working or messing with the game. So now I'm making it up to her.

Edit: Where is the thread about adding maps/scenarios to the game? Perhaps that will be of some help. . . .
