  • My introduction

Hi, my name is Trevor. I live in Tasmania, Australia and I've just started playing CtP2. My experience with Civ-like games is confined to C-Evo, which I enjoyed thouroughly but got sick of the micro-managing. I am interested in becoming part of the CtP2 community, and if it doesn't really exist then I'd like to encourage one. I have learnt how to do most things in the game but I'd like to know:
How do you know when a city will gain one citizen?

Did you down load some of the source code stuff? The game's source code has been released and we can freely edit the game. Peter Triggs (I believe) added a count down to population growth in what we call The Apolyton Edition

Check it out in the Source code section, start with the first page of Playtest (4th Thread) http://www.apolyton.net/forums/showt...hreadid=147969

I hope you stick around we have a small but loyal crowd and we need playtesters to test all of our improvements to the game.

Welcome . I'm glad to see that there are still people out there who get into CtP2 now.

I didn't manage to find the download link for that mod on that thread. Would you be able to tell me of all the mods worth downloading and a link to them in a thread, or point me towards a thread that does list all the mods?

What other games do you guys like to play?

They are the three files here. they are in Rar format. After you copy these ones over downoad the build in my signature. you'll see a better Ai and fixed bugs

          2005.10.23.CTP2.Playtest.1of3.rar
          2005.09.12.CTP2.Playtest.2of3.rar
          2005.10.23.CTP2.Playtest.3of3.rar

then I'd recommend getting Ages of Man as a mod

other games WAS civ3 and civ4 but I spend 99.9% of my time on Ctp2

Ages of Man is a mod that is very, very different from CtP2. My favorite mod for the basic CtP2 is Apolyton Pack + GoodMod, that's like CtP2 itself, just significantly better. AoM's almost a different game, and very challenging.

Of course the source code now includes Apolyton Pack and good Mod features. So if you download the source code you don't need the other two.

Sorry, but those files will take too long to download on my 28.8Kps internet connection. Maybe when I get Broadband.

28.8? Ouch. Don't you have access to a better connection at work/school/something?

I can download them at school but I am on Term 1 holidays for two weeks at the moment so it'll have to wait.

Wow! I didn't know people were still on 28.8 (unless you're stuck on a RIM).

But then I suppose, it is Tassy. Us on the mainland have it pretty sweet compared to then.

PS: Tarmz, what chances are there of converting you to Civ4?

The chances of that are pretty slim, sorry Dale. My computer wouldn't be able to run the game and I don't usually spend more than $20 on PC game...
                        I've gotta tight budget .
