  • Error trying to play in the Internet --plz help

    Hi all!

Years ago, I really loved to play »Civ.: Call To Power« and later »Call To Power II« against the computer. Now, I found CtP again in and old box with old games and wondered if I could play against others through the Internet! (Don't know if the game is really played nowadays, but I like CtP2 much more than Civ III / Civ IV.)

I tried to go to [Multiplayer] => [Internet]. This didn't work for me, the game says I'd need to connect to the Internet 1st to be able to play online! I think that's because of my kind of connection, I have DSL with a router (over LAN), so there is nothing like a Modem or anything like that I could connect.

I installed the »All-Seeing Eye« and »GameSpy Arcade«, but both didn't find Call To Power II on my system.

So, what can I do? Is there any possibility to play online for me? Thank you very much!

Here is a possible fix from the FAQ to your first problem:

A58 Go to either Internet Explorer or Configuration Screen, select Internet Options, go to the tab Connections, click LAN Settings and make sure the 'Auto detect settings' option is selected (the exact names may be slightly different depending your OS/IE version/language). (Courtesy of Franses)
After that you will also need the updated server.dat file which you can download here: http://apolyton.net/~ctp2files/misce...us/servers.zip

and unzip it to your ...\ctp2_program\ctp folder

Then the hard part, you need to find someone to play with.
